Just outside the massive stone tunnel leading out of the Galle Fort at the southern tip of Sri Lanka is a busy little fish market. Sandwiched between the road and the ocean, the fishermen dock their vessels on the tiny little beach and unload their morning catch. It's a beautiful place for photography and a great introduction to the essence of the local cuisine.
Food Photography Of The Day
There are the big sweeping landscapes that tell it all and then there are the small joyous moments that bring back the finer details of your memory to the forefront of your mind. This image of a tiny little crab is one of those details for me.
I spent the morning photographing the smily fishermen and their prize big fish, until I came across this crabber. He proudly held up his little crustacean for me to snap off a few shots and I thought this little guy must pack some big flavor. There are those big landscapes that set the scene, but for me the flavor comes from these little moments, images that add the delicious spice to the entire photo story.
