For all my friends here in the USA, I want to give a big Happy Memorial Day, I hope you are enjoying this weekend with your family or friends. I know the political climate is hot right now, but I think we can all agree that a capital THANK-YOU is in order for all the brave men and women who serve our country both here and abroad.
Food Photography Of The Day
On Saturday I stopped by the local farmers market and picked up a bag of these amazing assorted wild mushrooms. I plan on have a BBQ with family this afternoon and grilling up these bad boys sounds amazing! Mushrooms are one of my favorite things to photograph. They have so much texture and shape, with subtle colors that lend themselves beautifully to my studio table. Heather has two great shots of mushrooms in our portfolio (which BTW she can't stand the taste) so I thought it was my turn to make a wild mushroom image.
Today I posted an article on how if You Want To Make Great Photography, Stop Taking Pictures it's all about finding your inspiration and how to use it as your guiding force to make better images. I take a lot of inspiration for my food photography from childhood memories of old Audubon Society Books and their beautiful illustrations. Images like the one I made above really remind me of the hours spent as a child flipping through my grandmother's Audubon collection. Have a read and enjoy your time with friends and family!
