Sometimes as a food photographer you get given these WTF subjects. The first questions running through your mind are WTF is it? and WTF should I do to photograph it? You know they probably taste super good, but damn are these subjects hard to make look good on the frame. These stuffed seafood rolls were one of those moments for me. It looked both strange from above and from the side. Although they were truly amazing to eat and in the end the client was happy with the result, they were sure a pain shoot.
Food Photography Of The Day
Today I’m off to the local farmers market to grab up some of the fresh veggies, jams and baked goods. Yay! I’m loving the farms here after living in the desert for 8 years. I find it really inspiring to be in the middle of a food culture again, even if I don’t end up buying anything, just roaming around the stalls packed with all the seasonal vegetables and artisan made treats gives me so many ideas for photography.
Earlier this week I wrote an article on how if you Want To Become A Better Food Photography, you need to put down that camera an focus on finding inspiration. If your a beginner or find yourself stuck in a rut, definitely give it a read. Today I’m putting my camera and surrounding myself with some good food, it’s time to get inspired.
